Parent Guide: Let’s Talk Before TikTok Does

Growing up has always involved figuring out friendships, crushes, and relationships. Today’s teens, however, are doing much of that learning through screens, social media, and digital communication. While technology keeps teens connected, it can also make it harder to practice reading social cues, interpreting intentions, and navigating the sometimes confusing signals that come with relationships.

Parent Guide: Let’s Talk Before TikTok Does is a segment of our Parent Guide series that offers suggestions, insights, and guidance for parents and caregivers with having "The Talk" with today's teens.

Most parents know these conversations matter. Knowing how to start them is the hard part.

This segment helps parents and caregivers approach conversations about relationships, boundaries, flirting, and sexual decision-making with greater confidence and less awkwardness. In this workshop, we discuss the realities teens are navigating today and offer practical suggestions for keeping communication open, respectful, and supportive.

Parents will also learn what topics are covered in our teen workshop so families can continue the conversation together at home.
